Because systems cannot directly observe their true state, they infer alignment only through prediction error and continually try to correct where expectations fail.

On a Unified Theory

On Systems Performance

On Human Conditioning

All persistent systems—biological, cognitive, social, and institutional—maintain viability through feedback and proportional correction within finite limits. Humans are distinct only in that action generation and feedback interpretation arise from the same self-referential system, leaving no internal access to objective ground truth. As a result, alignment cannot be directly known and is instead inferred through prediction error, experienced as meaning when coherence is maintained and distress when mismatch persists. Stability is preserved when feedback remains legible, actionable, and affordable; instability arises when correction is delayed, suppressed, or externalized. Across scales, systems that honor feedback early correct gently, while systems that block correction accumulate error until collapse substitutes for choice.

Equilibrium Correction Model ECM formalizes how stability depends on proportional coupling between deviation, feedback, and corrective load across time and scale.

There are many different ways at looking at things to get to the truth. Give It to Got has its own way of interpreting problems and cancers one them.

Water is a another great example of this theory as well. Not just because it always finds level either. Here is a deeper dive into this perspective.
